Richard van der Linden

Richard van der Linden

Richard began his musical journey at the age of fifteen. Having grown up listening to hard rock, he started out playing electric guitar with great enthusiasm. In addition to practicing extensively at home, he gained experience through music school lessons and by playing in various bands. Moving beyond hard rock and metal, he delved deeper into music, exploring folk and classical genres before eventually finding his way to medieval and Renaissance music.

Immersing himself in early music also meant exploring a wide range of instruments. Over time, he supplemented the guitar with a bouzouki and a cittern. Drawn to drone music and double-reed instruments, he subsequently expanded his focus to include the bagpipes and the hurdy-gurdy.

In the past, Richard played in bands such as the rock group Desperados d’Amour and the progressive metal band Cirrha Niva. Besides Elyrica, he is currently active in the medieval music group Compagnie Gallimaufry and the pagan folk band Laguz.

Lenny de Rooy

Given the musicality running through her family, it was clear from an early age that Lenny would play an instrument.

She began violin lessons at the age of seven. In 2007, she decided to take up the bagpipes as well. She had been singing since she was a very young girl; during her high school years, she was a member of the school show choir and later took singing lessons.

From 2010 to 2017, Lenny played in the medieval/folk duo Tweedledum & Tweedledee. Between 2018 and 2026, she was a member of the medieval music group De Soete Inval. In addition to Elyrica, she currently performs with her balfolk band Androneda.
