We perform music in a variety of styles. We can tailor our performance—and our attire—to suit your specific event or occasion. Thanks to our versatility, Elyrica offers the perfect blend of old and new, combining entertainment with historical authenticity. We bring the atmosphere of an old tavern filled with troubadours to any venue!
Musical styles
Our repertoire spans a wide range of historical melodies from the Middle Ages and subsequent eras. We can perform these in authentic medieval or 17th-century costumes.
We also play folk music, featuring both instrumental pieces and songs. Much of the traditional folk music we play has been handed down through the generations, but we also perform more contemporary folk songs by other groups as well as our own original compositions!
Our repertoire even includes a few modern favorites, such as “Dust in the Wind” and “Country Roads.”
Instruments
We play a variety of instruments: primarily strings and winds instruments, such as guitar, cittern, hurdy-gurdy, bagpipes, and recorder. We also incorporate vocals into some of our songs.
The hurdy-gurdy and bagpipes provide a powerful, historical sound, while the refined string work of the guitar and cittern adds harmonic depth. Combined with the recorder and vocals, this creates a dynamic and versatile musical experience!
Occasions
In a sense, we are musical time travelers: thanks to our broad repertoire and diverse instrumentation, we can perform at a wide range of events—from historical markets to modern parties. Think festivals, fantasy fairs, re-enactment events, street fairs, weddings, and other celebrations.
We can perform either acoustically or with amplification, allowing for everything from intimate performances right among the audience to energetic stage shows. When playing without amplification, we are mobile and can move between different locations during an event. This also allows for direct interaction with listeners!
